Dallas library security officer attacked-firearm taken

Dallas TX Feb 16 2017 A Dallas security officer has been hospitalized after being beaten and having his firearm taken from him.
Police report that the assault took place Tuesday night when he attacked a security officer who was trying to remove him from the downtown Dallas library.
Derrion Cournez Miles, 28, was arrested on charges of aggravated assault, taking a weapon from an officer and threatening a security officer.
The security officer, Leo Kelly, was working security at the J. Erik Jonsson Central Library on Young Street about 4 p.m. when he was attacked, according to a police report.
Kelly, 58, told police he was attempting to escort Miles off the property when he was struck several times in the face.
Police say Miles then removed Kelly's weapon and pointed the gun at him while making threats. He also was threatening to kill other security officers.
Another security officer was able to subdue Miles and retrieve the firearm before handcuffing him.
Kelly was taken to Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas.
Authorities say that he is resting comfortably with non-life-threatening injuies.
Miles was booked into the Dallas County Jail, with bail set at more than $100,000.
