Man riding bicycle through mall threatens to kill Valley Plaza Security

BPD: Man riding bicycle through the mall has been apprehended

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – April 20 2017
On Saturday, April 8, 2017 at approximately 9:20  p.m., Valley Plaza Security attempted to stop a man riding a bicycle through the center of the mall. Security tried to talk to the man but he motioned towards his waistband and told them he had a gun.
Officers say the suspect then threatened to kill the security officer. No gun was seen. The suspect has had prior contact with security where police said he had a knife.
The suspect is described as: White or Hispanic male, late 20's, 5 feet 8 inches tall, medium build, short black hair, brown eyes, tattoo "5150" above his right eyebrow and a horn above his left eyebrow, black baseball hat, white/black flannel jacket, black gym shorts, riding a black BMX style bicycle.
Anyone with information, or can identify the suspect is asked to call Detective Rex Davenport at 326-3552, or the Bakersfield Police Department at 327-7111.
The suspect has been identified as Corey Wayne Thomas, 24-years-old. He has been located and was arrested for making criminal threats.
The Bakersfield Police Department would like to thank the public for its assistance in helping identify Thomas.
